Welcome to LA one of North America's largest Jewish communities. The history of Yiddish LA goes back to 1841 Jacob Frankfort arrived. It now has the third largest Yiddish population in the US. Enjoy the many restaurants in LA - some say it has the best kosher restaurants in the country.
LA also has many Yiddish attractions as well. The Skirball Cultural Center is a museum of American Jewish culture. Children will love exploring "Noah's Ark," an 8,000 square foot gallery. The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust features exhibits designed by Holovaust survivors. In October 2010 it moved into a new home in Pan Pacific Park. The Simon Wiesenthal Center, has a media library focusing on the Holocaust, genocide, anti-Semitism, and Jewish communities around the world with film, books and articles for all ages. Across the street is the Museum of Tolerance. The Breed Street Shul in East LA is one of the oldest shuls on the West Coast. The shul has been restored by the Jewish Historical Society of Southern California. The society offers bus tours of Jewish LA. For more info: http://www.jewishhistoricalsociety.org/Tours.htm
