STATE INTRO

New York state can be divided in to many regions.

New York City

New York City and the neighboring communities on Long Island have the highest concentration.

Upstate is much bigger in geography, but much smaller in population. There are many areas of interest to the Jewish traveler, both as destinations and those travelling through.

Catskills

The Catskills region for many years was known as the borsche belt. Many Jewish comedians started their careers in the area. Now it's a popular vacation area, with many bungalow colonies and summer camps.

Hunter Mountain

Further north on the north side of the Catskill State park, is the Hunter Mountain - Tannersville area it is gaining in popularity for summer vacations.

Albany

Adirondacks and Lake George

Bingahamton, home of suny has a huge Jewish population on campus

For those travelling throught the state along the thruway there are many cities along the way, with substantial Jewish communities. Rochester, Niagra falls, Buffalo
