From 1880 to 1920 eastern european jews swelled into the north end similar to the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Other immigrant enclaves existed in west end and south end. Most of it got razed and the little remains to bring out the history of jewish life
Today over 200,000 live in the Greater Boston area, mostly concentrated in the suburbs of Brookline, Brighton, and Newton. Some is centered around college campuses. Many of the Jewish museums and collections of Jewish interest are near on such campuses(i.e.Harvard, Brandeis)
